Grief & Intimacy: A Training for Couples Therapists

This experiential, day-long workshop offers couples therapists an opportunity to explore the often-overlooked intersections between grief, intimacy, and relational healing. Through personal narrative, clinical reflection, and Jewish spiritual frameworks with universal relevance, participants will examine how unresolved grief shows up in intimate relationships—and how therapists can hold space for both. We'll explore the dynamic interplay between core wounds and core desires, and introduce tools from the Somatica Method for de-shamifying emotional expression, navigating disappointment, and facilitating repair. Refuat Ha-Nefesh – A Healing Circle

Led by two End of Life Doulas experienced in grief support and group facilitation, the Healing Circle will open with a Jewish kavanah (intention) for healing and self-forgiveness, followed by guidelines about sharing and confidentiality. Participants will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and talk briefly about a Chevrah Kadisha-related experience they found to be emotionally challenging or difficult (in terms of the interaction with the met or mettah). New Approaches to Shiva

Infusing Meaning into a Ritual of Comfort In this interactive workshop we will begin by quickly asking participants to briefly share their own experiences of Shiva as either mourner or attendee. Participants will be invited to share what their ideal Shiva gathering might include. Rabbi Dan will share insights into how we can engage mourners in creating a Shiva gathering that might better serve their needs.
