SUMMARY:You Are Not Alone: Child Loss Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Join a supportive online community for parents experiencing the unimaginable loss of a child. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat:  Child Loss Support Group via Zoom \n\n\n\nWhen:  Six weekly Wednesday meetings\, May 14 to June 18 via Zoom from 5 PM PST to 6:30 PM PST.  \n\n\n\nWho:  Open to all parents who have experienced the loss of a child regardless of age or circumstance. To participate\, it needs to have been at least 3 months since the death of your child. No limit on how long ago the death occurred. Group is limited to 10 participants. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect:  A safe and compassionate space for sharing our stories and finding comfort\, validation and strength\, while connecting with others who understand the profound grief of losing a child. \n\n\n\nThis is not a psychotherapy session and is not being offered by a licensed psychotherapist. There will be an individual\,15-minute pre-interview with participants prior to the start of the group. \n\n\n\nAttendees may join in the second session if they missed the first one\, but after that the group will be closed for the remainder of the meetings. \n\n\n\nThe group facilitator is Susan Talon-Mazer\, a fellow bereaved parent and board member of AriYael Jewish Healing Center. Susan is a retired nurse with 44 years of experience\, including 30 years in hospice and palliative care.

In collaboration with over a dozen local and national partners\, and inspired by Queen Esther’s ritualized grief in the Purim story\, we are curating a full day of sessions\, teachings\, and self-directed ritual to support attendees in deepening and expanding their grief. DESCRIPTION:2023 Kallah Course Description \n\n\n\nUnity\, Separation & Transcendence: Psychedelics in Contemporary Jewish Life \n\n\n\nThe last few years have seen an extraordinary blossoming of a renewed appreciation of the power of psychedelics as sacred healing medicines. Studies at respected universities have explored the use of psychedelics in treating depression\, grief\, PTSD\, and end-of-life transitions. Many contemporary scholars posit connections between mystical traditions and psychedelics in a wide range of religious traditions including Judaism.  \n\n\n\nDeeply revered religious leaders including Reb Zalman\, z”tl\, believed that psychedelics\, if carefully curated for well-screened individuals\, could be used to occasion primary religious experience. \n\n\n\nIn this class we will explore relevant Jewish texts\, and the developing use of mind-expanding sacred medicines to expose dualistic illusions that create separations between oneself\, one another and the divine. In transcendence beyond the ego (the identity which is largely made up of cultural and social constructs and defenses such as notions of patriarchy\, gender roles and feelings of social alienation) one can experience: Echad – Oneness; Ahavah – Unconditional Love; Shlemut – Wholeness; and Yichud – Unity with the Divine.  \n\n\n\nCome delve into these insights and what they can mean for the contemporary power and practice of Judaism. We will look at some of the Jewish healing practices that are better enabling people to walk paths of grieving\, deepening of intimacy\, prayer and ritual\, and a host of sacred transitions including end of life work.
