SUMMARY:Calling in the Angels
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Yom Kippur study session\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn intimate evening circle at a private home in the Berkeley Hills. Participants will learn about Jewish rituals around illness\, grief and loss\, led by Zoë Goldblatt\, Death Doula and Jewish educator. The time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is an ideal time for reflection and preparation for Yom Kippur services or rituals that include Yizkor\, a tender memorial for loved ones who have died\, communal and individual prayers of atonement\, forgiveness\, and compassion; and the wearing of white garments which mirror white linen Jewish burial shrouds: a “rehearsal” for one’s own death. \n\n\n\nThis is a private event in Berkeley\, CA facilitated by Zoë Goldblatt\, End of Life Doula. Registration is by rsvp through the event host. By invitation only. \n\n\n\nCost: Optional donation of any amount to AriYael Jewish Healing Center \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in hosting a similar event at your home\, send your query to admin@ariyael.org.

SUMMARY:Charlotte Maxwell Clinic Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Death Cafe is an international movement started in England in 2011 where people gather in community to discuss topics on their minds and hearts related to death and dying. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith Zoë Goldblatt\, Death Doula at AriYael Jewish Healing Center and Nancy Finkle\, Death Doula at East Bay End Of Life Doula Network \n\n\n\nDeath Cafes have designated facilitators to make sure the conversation remains free of any agendas or goals. Each person who attends gets a chance to share what brings them there. Death Cafe is NOT a therapy group or grief support group\, although attendees living with an illness\, and/or a recent loss\, are more than welcome to attend and bring up thoughts\, feelings and questions about death. All attendees are asked to show up open-minded and open-hearted. \n\n\n\nThis Death Cafe is open to Charlotte Maxwell Clinic staff and volunteers\, and will be conducted in English and via Zoom. The Charlotte Maxwell Clinic is a free women’s clinic that specializes in offering life-enhancing complementary therapies for low-income\, underserved\, and immigrant San Francisco Bay Area women with cancer.  Located in Oakland\, California\, their services are provided by a dedicated pool of volunteers who are licensed and certified practitioners of holistic modalities.  \n\n\n\nCost: FREE \n\n\n\nContact Charlotte Maxwell Clinic directly if you are a staff member or volunteer https://charlottemaxwell.org/

SUMMARY:Dying as a Sacred Transition
DESCRIPTION:A Zoom workshop through the Older to Elder program at Wilderness Torah\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwith Zoë Goldblatt and Rabbi Dan Goldblatt of AriYael \n\n\n\nThis workshop invites us to explore our hopes and fears around dying; explore our relationship with death; increase self-knowledge; learn how to break down barriers between ourselves and others when we most need comfort\, communion\, trust and safety.  \n\n\n\nWhen we explore our feelings and thoughts about death\, we learn more about our own lives now.  We come in direct contact with our own spiritual beliefs\, our life purpose\, our unfinished business\, and how we influence and are influenced by our environment and our relationships. \n\n\n\nRegistration is for the current cohort of the From Older to Elder program only. For future involvement\, learn more about Older to Elder.
